Bye Bye Year 6's


Farwell to our year 6's who will be moving on to secondary education in September.  We wish them well in their new chapter.  They had their last school meal in style, sitting at a nicely laid table and were waited on by the dining room staff.


Goodbye Miss Clark


We held a special afternoon tea for Miss Clark. Parents, Governors, Pupils and Staff past and present came for the special event. Miss Clark had been at the school for 25 years. She will be sadly missed.

During assembly time on Monday and Tuesday this week years 4,5 and 6 have been reading to the younger children. Everyone has enjoyed themselves and either read or heard some great stories.

Christmas 2016


Our Year 4-6 class made this year's Christingles for our Nativity service. The orange represents the Earth, the sweets show god's gifts to us, the red ribbon represents the blood of christ whilst the candle shows that jesus is the light of the world.

KS2 pupils had great fun ice skating in Castle Park, Whitehaven

Key Stage Two Winlatter visit- November 2016.  As a class we completed an orienterring course, read maps, completed a blindfold trail in the woods and played in the wild play-park. It was a lovely sunny, autumn day!

The tyre park is an exciting addition to the playground.  The children love it.  It encourages use of imagination to devise games.

Our Children in Years 2-6, went to a live concert in Workington. They were very impressed by all the orchestral instruments and enjoyed listening to some familiar tunes, including the theme from 'How to train your dragon' and 'Sleeping Beauty'.

Residential trip July 2015


Every summer  Thornhill Primary School join with Arlecdon Primary School to go on a residential.  This is a valuable experience for the children giving them opportunities to act indpendently and assume greater responsibilities, whilst having lots of fun.  It also gives them the opportunity of mixing with children from another school.  The children had a great time taking part in lots of different activities.
